Details

Front Steps: Natural stone steps, combined with boulders, tall grasses, and a variety of planting textures and colors, create an inviting entry, shielded from the street. Pergola: Curves in a pergola make it seem lighter and more sheltering.Deck Water Feature: The focal point of a geometric deck, this water feature has a copper sluiceway and an internal reservoir. The river rock channel in front gives the impression of extending the water flow.Japanese Bridge: A simple Japanese style bridge and some river rock makes a significant event and a place of beauty out of a low-lying drainage area.Cedar Gate: Gates can be designed to express both boundary and invitation. Visually, this one relates to the garden’s fencing and trellises, and the arched form creates a sense of expectation.Barbeque: This natural stone barbecue accommodates both a gas and a charcoal burner. The pergola overhead ties it into the adjacent dining area, also shaded by a pergola.Front Gate: This farm type gate provides a visual separation for the back yard area while still allowing for continuity of space. The gently curved top makes the boundary less harsh.Playhouse: A children’s playhouse, with shaded porch and a swing frame, provides a cottage-like focal point for the garden.Waterfall: natural rock water feature, made of the same stone that surrounds a swimming pool.Front Planting: Textures and foliage color are important in planting design for year round effect.Fence top: Patterns and shapes of structures play against those of planting.Mirrored Fence: A mirrored panel in a wood framework covers an ugly garage wall, and brings light space and magic into a small garden.Cedar Entryway: An arched gate and a planter box create a sense of welcome.Planter Boxes: Planter boxes on a curved cedar decking platform enliven an all brick condominium courtyard.Hot Tub: The roof of a hot tub cabana provides space for vines to grow overhead while leaving an opening above the hot tub to view the stars.Cabana: A cabana, with pergola and fencing, provide a rich variety of patterns and textures as a background for the planting.

The details of a garden are as important as the overall layout. They are where the eye rests, and where the character of a garden is expressed. We place a great deal of attention on how the garden plan is detailed. How is the garden design made practical- what are the paths and walls made of, and how are they built? What shapes and ways of joining things together will be functional, beautiful, and long lasting? We can suggest these to you through photographs, drawings and descriptions, and will incorporate what we learn from you about you and your needs, into each detail of your garden.
